My all-time fav lunch
spot in Decatur is the Bakery at Cakes & Ale (C&A). Owners Billy and
Kristin Allin are neighbors and good friends. But that’s not the only reason
I’m a loyal diner – it is simply delicious. The interior is perfection -- no
detail was left unturned. As you know, I like tasteful design. Look at those
extra thick marble counters. They are to die for! While you’re at it, hop on
over to Cote de Texas to read about using white marble in kitchens.
Dost thou think because thou art virtuous, there shall be no more cakes & ale?
They also happen to serve
tasty cakes and ale.
During
renovation, workers uncovered an old bakery sign on the brick wall behind the
counter. The Allins searched high and low for info on the bakery, but it
remains a mystery. Let’s just say, the place was destined to be.
Here's what I usually order for lunch. Every seasonal ingredient and flavor you could ever want all in one bowl.
Heads up. The
bakery is offering a special Thanksgiving dessert menu. Yum! Don't wait until the last minute to plan your meal, pre-order your desserts today.
And, because Kristin is so nice and generous, she is offering the prize -- a holiday cookie box and bag of Counter Culture Coffee valued at $25 -- for my first ever give away. I am so excited!

DeleteI just got back from the bakery a few minutes ago. My kids love the chocolate chip cookies.
ReplyDeleteDenise, get one of your friends to subscribe to my blog and you'll be in the running.
DeleteMy favorite C&A things, aside from all the incredible food, are the hooks under the bar to hold your purse. Reminds me of Spain. Now, to find a friend...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing at C&A is the salad I got the last time I was there. It was warm with beets and brie-like cheese that was something fancier than brie. I also like that you always see someone you know. It comes in handy when all the 2-tops are filled and you can share a 4-top with friends who got there right before you. I'm telling Emily to subscribe so we can win the cookies!
ReplyDeleteI served C&A macaroons at my French menu dinner party held for my niece before she left for her year's study at the Sorbonne. Simple yet simply delicious. I will find a new subscriber. I want to WIN.
